Fast Track NYSC Registration for Foreign-trained Graduates - Part 4

Application Forms

You will be asked to fill two forms. You can find a sample of the forms here. At this stage, you should have two main goals:
  • Fill in the forms as quickly as possible with the bare minimum needed to proceed to the next stage
  • Fill in all required details such that you won't have to make changes when you get to the verification stage. After all, if you keep making changes at that stage, other applicants will keep jumping ahead of you. Worst case? If your forms end up too rough you may be required to fill new ones.

Cancellations

Let's just get this out of the way: it is generally ok to strike out mistakes in your forms. They are not that fussy. Just try not to make it too rough. You never know.

Next of Kin

Include your next of kins' phone numbers in bracket next to their names.
Good: Mr Gbenga Ojo (0802 312 xxxx)
Bad: Mr Gbenga Ojo

Passport Photographs

Good: 3 passport photographs with your name and surname behind each of them
Bad: 3 fresh passport photographs - straight from the studio

Date of Return to Nigeria

If you've been back to the country where you studied multiple times after graduation:
Good: Date of 1st return after graduation
Bad: Date of last return for NYSC registration

Note: Similar logic also applies to your departure date i.e. latest date you left Nigeria before the start of your course. The dates entered here will be cross-checked against the photocopy of your passport stamps as mentioned in the previous article.

Primary School (Duration)

If you had a very eventful primary school experience by attending multiple schools:

Good:
* St. Anne Primary School | 1994 - 2000

Long thing:
* St Anne Primary School | 1997 - 2000
* Mary and Joseph Primary School | 1994 - 1997

Bad:
* St Anne Primary School | 1997 - 2000
* Mary and Joseph Primary School | 1994 - 1997
* Happy chaps nursery school and day care centre | 1992 - 1994

Ok, seriously! It's quite impressive you still remember your nursery school details, but if you keep thinking like this, you may end up getting your dinner from their staff canteen :)

Primary School (Certificate)

Good: Primary school leaving certificate
Good: First school leaving certificate
Bad: National Common Entrance

Secondary School Duration

Don't waste your time thinking up the exact dates. You can just put the month and year e.g. "September 2000 - June 2006". The same logic also applies to primary school.

Conclusion

Every other thing in the forms and the application process should be a walk in the park. The next post is going to focus on the things to note about the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja and Nigerian domestic flights.
